UNIT 7

1). I had an interesting week trying to meditate. I have been fairly successful during my workout sessions where i focus on my breathing and thoughts. But this week my mind kept shifting to a guy there. He is my trainer. I had an experience during the week that brought him into my thoughts, and then into my dream. So I have to determined why I felt such a connection to him. He is a great motivator and support person when I am at the fitness center. Then later this week my coworkers and I have been a little at odds with each other. The last thing I could think of was lovingkindness. But I am trying to bring my thoughts back into a state of peace and love. I am trying to practice my breathing several times when I am at work because those are the most testing and negative times. And when I practiced the healing meditation my healer was named Jesus, He is the only inner healer that I know. As I review this past week my insight tells me that I have fallen short of making these practices an important part of my dailly routine. I believe I need a lot more practice, I don't feel like I was very succcessful this week as I have been in the past. What I feel to foster wellness is to practice and learn to perform the subtle mind and lovingkindness exercises.

2). My example of "leading another where one has not gone himself" is existing in my daily life right now. My goal is to help people heal and develop in integral health. I believe the physical body needs to be guided into a balance of proper nutrition and exercise. I have been working on losing weight and a life style of healthy eating and the results are poor. I have a personal duty to utilize the teachings that I will be instilling upon others. From my struggles I have an increased level of compassion and caring for others. I believe my growth will be from a daily life of practicing livingkindness, subtle mind and deligent prayer to God.

  1. Brenda, great points in your post! I am sorry that you have had a bad week. It can only get better, especially with what we have learned in this course and from each other. You are in my prayers! I, too, think that it is my duty to utilize the teachings that we try to convey on others. I feel that if I do not try to flourish myself, then my clients may not feel that is unecessary themselves. I also think we all have a desire to grow and be true to ourselves. Great Post!

  2. The loving-kindness exercise is a growing process for all of us I think. Forgiveness is not something that one can easily do overnight. Even if loving-kindness doesn't work for me I take that time to think about the negative situation and it helps. Maybe it is just the fact I am getting some stuff off my chest even if it is to no one inparticular.

  3. Hi Brenda,

You are such an inspiration and I can tell you are a very spiritual person. :) I love how you have made reference to Jesus as your inner healer in your blog and how your strength sees you through any situation even when you are not having a good week. You do not let your faith turn on you or get you down. This is your inner strength and how you find comfort in Jesus and know he will see you through any difficult situation. Let him lead the way! You will get there...just believe in yourself! I have great faith in you.

I especially like you goal to help people grow and develop integral health. It will feel really good to get to this point with a patient, you know? It is good that you have been through a lot, so that you can help people get through similar situations.

  5. A inspirational leader is what you are BRENDA!
Leading is you specialty, Matthew 5:1-10 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: 3 “ Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus led by example, with humility, and pure love. Also, compassion flows through everything He does. His teaching is outstanding because everything He taught is what He lived. This old saying is still relevant “No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” Jesus lived what He taught, and men followed Him. Jesus’ truth sown within your life must be acted upon. Why? Because you never sow what you have, you sow who you are.

    LUV YA BRENDA!
