REMARKS ON CRIME OF THE CENTURY

I enjoyed the relaxation exercise. It was more like an awakening for me. My mind started thinking that I would love to create my own relaxation cd. He said to repeat after him "my life has a meaningful purpose." His positive statements were very encouraging. It continued to guide me toward thinking how nice it would be if I were to do my onw relaxation exercises and performing self talk on my self. It was another learning experience into the world of relaxation.

  1. His voice was so relaxing also. I feel asleep before the end of it the first time. I had to go back and listen again. It was very beneficial to me!!!!

  2. Hi Brenda,
I once read in psychology book about self hypnosis; it is telling yourself things over and over like I look good, I can do it, I am smart...etc. What I am trying to say is that we need to feel worthy and if no one make us feel this way, it is our job to say it to ourself. I guess the crime of the century exercise was telling us to say that we are loved, grounded, centered...etc for a reason.
I think we owe it to ourselves to say those things and feel good about it, after all we are doing it all the time when we say to our spouses "oh honey you can do it" to our kids "I know you will make it" or even to our friends "you deserve better than this" or whatever spirit-lifting and self-esteem pumping we do for others all day long.
By the way I was expecting to feel sleepy, but instead I felt energized at the end of the exercise and I will repeat it in the future to compare my results.

  4. Drawing on the same "relaxation response" that drives meditation, self-hypnosis helps you to relax your body, lets stress hormones subside, and distracts your mind from unpleasant thoughts. The relaxation achieved with self-hypnosis can be intense. Unlike meditation, we often use affirmations as part of self-hypnosis to manage stress and build self-confidence. Affirmations are the positive statements (based on rational thinking) that we make to ourselves to counter stress and unpleasant thoughts.
